NYU Stern’s New York City location helps position it as a popular business school for students aiming to secure post-MBA positions in finance. Students can choose from 24 different specializations and over 300 elective courses, but three-fourths of the graduates went into finance, accounting or consulting. The school encourages entrepreneurship through three venture competitions that offer a combined $200,000 in prize money. Five-hundred alums are CEOs at companies, including Robert Greifeld of NASDAQ and Jack Abernethy of Fox Television Stations. Three Nobel Prize winners sit on the faculty. The Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation also holds three annual business plan competitions — the New Venture Competition, the Social Venture Competition and the Technology Venture Competition — that together award nearly $200,000 to aspiring entrepreneurs.
